I know Long Beach is famous for the black pepper crab, but we prefer chili crab so that's what we ordered. And honestly, I like Long Beach's chili crab better than Jumbo's chili crab. The sauce is not as sweet, but it is more spicy, so get ready if you have young kids. Also, I loved that they were really generous with the sauce. There was so much sauce! Sauce to eat with bread, sauce to eat with your rice, sauce to take home as leftovers! Very different from Jumbo. I also like the ambiance of this restaurant better than the Jumbo in Ion Centre. I like to feel that the restaurant has personality, and this one did with the wicker chairs and sign of age. Jumbo is so new and stylish looking that it seems devoid of personality.

Most memorable crab feast I had Ordered chili crab and black pepper crab Oh me oh my, black pepper crab was the biggest surprise of all. The taste was cannot be described, succulent, tasty and oh so good

Nice service, lighting speed for food readiness. Food is good although Pepper crab is difficult to handle. Price is slightly cheaper than States. We have a good selection on the preset menu

I was looking forward to having good crab in Singapore. Our friend took us to Long Beach Restaurant. We dined outside and ordered the 2 most popular crabs. The chili crab and black pepper crab. We also ordered a very tender beef dish, kangkong and gai lon. They bring out the crabs and ask if you prefer the shells removed. The guys said yes. When they returned with the crabs, I was thinking, what happened to the rest of the crab? Me and my friend said we should have left the shells on because it was tastier to suck the sauce off the shells, lol! The chili crab was swimming in chili sauce. The black pepper crab was just so-so. Both crabs were a bit spicy but tolerable. The bill came out to a whopping US$400 between 5 people. Overall, it was a good dinner. I'm sure we were charged extra for removing the crab shells.

My first time hearing about this exquisite seafood restaurant in Singapore. Located in a corner in the middle of this hidden nook on a hill. After walking into a brightly lit room, the first you see to the right is their open aquarium. It contains air flown Alaskan king crab, oysters and Dungeness crabs from all parts of the world. In the back we're marbled goby, Australian giant lobster and more Dungeness crabs. First recommendation: book reservations at least 2 days before especially on a weekend. Luckily our party has arrived earlier otherwise we have to line up outside First dishes: fried baby squid with honey. Second dish: geoduck sashimi and cooked geoduck via hot soup. Dipped sashimi in wasabi soy. Yum! Third dish: pea shoots with garlic Fourth dish: black pepper crab. Spicy and delicious! Fifth dish: chili crab with fried mantou. Spicy x2 and delicious! Sixth dish: steamed lapu lapu. Cooked to perfection Seventh dish: steamed razor clams with garlic and vermicelli And last but not least, dessert. I had 2 kinds. Mango pudding durian sago and Lemon grass jelly Second recommendation: get both chili and black pepper crab. Always leave room. Third recommendation: order the Thai coconut juice! Spicy crab and cold coconut juice is a great combination!!! Plastic gloves and wet wipes provided for those who want clean fingers. Parking available.

Our large group of 12 was unable to get a reservation on such short notice at any other famous seafood restaurants, so we settled for Long Beach. There's 4 different locations and we ended up at the one on Robertson Quay but couldn't find that one on Yelp. I'm sure they're all similar and looks to be close in proximity. We ordered two hefty sized Alaskan king crabs - one in the original black pepper and the other in chili sauce. I way preferred the black pepper, and surprisingly, despite the name, it was much spicier than the chili sauce crab. I asked them to deshell the crabs for us because I just wasn't feeling up to doing it myself and they happily obliged. It came with buns to dip in the chili sauce which I didn't try since I didn't want to fill myself up with any fillers, but it seemed like it was a popular choice amongst our group. The crab was fresh - I mean, how could it not be, it was coming straight from the aquarium in front of our faces! Next we had the house specialty deshelled prawn (盖世霸王虾球) - do NOT get this unless you're a stickler for fried food. We should've just had fresh prawn that wasn't fried bc all you were tasting was the breading and some garlic. The steamed live sea bass with lemon in Thai style (泰式柠檬蒸) was not my cup of tea but my colleagues seemed to like it. I had them debone that as well and portion it out for us (yeah, was feeling very lazy that day and no one complained that I was requesting this). The sauce had a strong cilantro scent and it overpowered much of anything else but that might just be due to my hatred for cilantro. I also ordered one chicken (炭烧鸡肉沙嗲) and one beef satay (炭烧牛肉沙嗲) for those in our team who wasn't keen on seafood but I didn't try that, since I was there solely for my seafood fill! I also ordered some baby kailan with minced garlic (蒜茸芥兰仔/奶白菜). This was a popular choice and I should've ordered two bc I was only able to enjoy a couple bites. I love garlic sautéed veggies, so this hit the spot! Last dish that came out was the Kampong Mee Goreng (甘榜马来面) - this was deliciously seasoned. Sweet and savory, with a mixture of seafood and chicken thigh - we had this portioned out for us as well but I wouldn't have minded another bowl. We also had bottles of wine and large pints of beers but there's no full bar. Service was spectacular - very attentive and prompt responsiveness. While it wasn't our first choice, I wouldn't scrub this as a non-contender.

Fan of this branch of Long Beach in particular. I loved the outdoor dining extension and the private rooms were perfect. As a non-fan of anything Salted Egg flavored, I was surprised by how much I loved the Salted Egg Prawns. The flavor profile was not overpowering, and the batter was fried to a perfect crisp. The Alaskan King Crab was tender as can be and was already pre-cracked which was a lovely touch. A great seafood option which I'd be happy to return to.

What's there not to like about Long Beach? I've been a fan ever since I was young and we celebrated family birthdays at the East Coast outlet. The service at Dempsey is great and even though we didn't order the chilli crab, the manager served us the chilli crab gravy so we could dip the deep fried mantou. The duck was delicious as was the bamboo clams and black pepper crab. The noodles was surprisingly tasty too. Unfortunately the baby squid didn't quite hit the spot for me - not crispy enough.

I have three words for you: SINGAPORE CHILI CRAB! Our hotel recommended this spot so off we went, late on a Sunday night. Have no fear, this spot is open til 1 AM daily! The menu is absolutely massive with delicacies from the ocean, but we came here for one thing...famous chili mud crabs! Long Beach is also known for black pepper crabs too, but we wanted to try this national delicacy on our last night. The crab is 1.2 kilos and came in a vat of chili sauce, piping hot. We also got some fried buns for dipping on the side. We were provided wet naps and a bowl of calamansi water to dip our fingers, but luckily were seated by a washing station with soap and paper towels also. I visited that station quite a bit. Our server and other staff were hilarious - it was a fun atmosphere. Eric R. asked for "jumbo" water glasses and that is the competitor's name, so he got a hard time in a funny way and it was amusing! The staff put a big pitcher of water on a saucer on our table to appease him! We also got some Tiger beer pints. We sat outside because the inside felt cold at the entry way. Our hotel told us this is a very casual spot, and we saw a variety of people dressed from super casual like us, who came from the zoo, to fancily dressed people. One look at the vat of chili crab would explain why you do not want to be dressed up for this experience. I saw some folks inside wearing bibs but we just went for it and got splattered. The crab cracker tool was very slippery because we could not keep it from getting wet, but it was effective! Eric R. never likes working for food - he said he prefers not to shell shrimp, crack crab or crawfish, or even going to Korean BBQ (shabu shabu and hot pot are exceptions apparently), but he thought this was definitely worth the effort. Our noses were running and our hands were messy, but our bellies were happy and full! This was really fun. Be aware that while this is a casual place, there is a huge menu of abalone and other fancy fishes, and set menus priced up to 800 SGD per person...whoa! Crabs are market price but one order was plenty for two, probably just a bit too much for us, so we did not get appetizers or sides beyond the fried buns for dipping. Enjoy!
